Economics AS & A Level at Ashlyns School

Course description

Economics explores how markets work (and fail); the UK Economy; business behaviour and the Labour Market; and global issues such as the impact of emerging economies, poverty and inequality.We analyse economic problems and evaluate economic arguments and evidence.

It is suitable for anyone who wishes to use an enquiring, critical and thoughtful approach to the study of a wide range of economic and social issues. An interest in current business and economics affairs is vital!

Entry requirements

Grade C in English and Grade B Maths. GCSE Business Studies is not essential, although if taken, a Grade B is required. You will need to be comfortable working with data and developing written responses to questions.

Future opportunities

A Level Economics can lead to careers in Business or General Management, Accountancy, Investment Banking and many other paths. (Please note: if you are considering studying Economics at university, many courses require Maths A Level, and some Russell Group Universities also require Further Maths A Level)
