Engineering Diploma Level 2 at Boston College

Course description

Enter the exciting world of Engineering with this 1 year course designed to develop your knowledge and skills required for a successful career in the Engineering sector. 

You will cover the essential subjects required to give an overview of the engineering sector and develop your understanding and practical experience of a range of engineering activities.

Course content

You will cover a range of engineering subjects in both theory and practical sessions which include: The Engineered World, Engineering Maintenance, Engineering Materials and Computer-aided Engineering and a range of practical based units e.g. milling and turning. 

English and Maths Functional skills/GCSE will also be a part of the course unless you have already achieved the required grades. 

You will also develop your skills for employment, looking at different careers and engineering employers.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grades D or above (New GCSE grade - 3 or above) including English, Maths or Science (or equivalent).

Assessment

You will be assessed through online tests, practical assessments and written assignments.

Financial information

Corporate work wear will be required which includes: Polo shirts, Overalls, Fleece, Safety footwear and eye protection.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this course will allow you to progress onto a Level 3 course to enable you to progress further within the engineering industry. 

You could also undertake an Apprenticeship alongside an employer, where you would train on the job and attend College 1 day a week to complete your assessments.
