Plumbing and Heating Diploma Level 1 at Lancaster and Morecambe College
This course gives the learner an introduction to both theoretical and practical aspects of plumbing and the building services engineering sector.
This You will study the following: • Structure of the construction industry • Fundamental safe working practices • Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings • Site preparation for working in the construction industry • Above ground drainage • Copper pipework • Plastic pressure pipework • Low carbon steel pipework • Installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems • Plumbing science
All LMC students will receive tutorial support.
All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and Maths qualifications or GCSE mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade A*-C in these subjects. If you have a grade D at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D will work towards GCSE through the study of Maths & English Functional Skills.
4 GCSEs at grade D-G preferably including English or maths. Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.
This course is continuously assessed using a range of methods including assignments, practical performance, projects, portfolio presentation, course work and GOLA exams.
Students will be expected to pay £50.00 prior to the start of the course. This includes personal protective equipment and stationery which will be required for the course.
The course can lead onto Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing or an apprenticeship.
On completion of this course you will receive City and Guilds Level 1 Diploma..
You will be expected to undertake some home study on this course.
