Year 12 (AS)
AS Course Content - Unit 1: Aspects of Narrative
Unit 2: Dramatic Genres
Unit 1 – Aspects of Narrative
 Four texts are be studied:
o Two prose texts. (At least one must be post 1990)
o Two poets (1800-1945) e.g. Tennyson and Browning

Unit 2 – Dramatic Genres
 Two plays are studied, both from the comedy genre
o One play by Shakespeare e.g. Midsummer Night’s Dream
o One modern play studied e.g. Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf


Year 13 (A2)
A2 Course Content - Unit 3: Texts and Genres (Elements of the Gothic)
Unit 4: Further and Independent Reading

Unit 3 – Texts and Genres
 Three texts are studied (At least one from 1300 – 1800)

Unit 4 – Further and Independent Reading
 Three texts are studied including a pre-release anthology

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade B or above required in English Literature GCSE Grade C or above required in English Language
