Hairdressing Diploma - Level 2 at Redcar & Cleveland College
This course develops the skills required for a career in hairdressing. It includes: client care, shampooing and conditioning of the hair and scalp, styling and finishing hair, basic cutting techniques and basic colouring techniques. Students will have training and practical experience in Mosaic, our commercial beauty salon, which simulates a real work environment.
This course creates a great foundation for building basic hairdressing skills to enable you to progress onto Level 3. We run professional salons where top quality products are used so you can have the experience in a skilled, real working environment. Competitions are carried out during the course in house and externally. All our staff are professionally trained by L’Oréal ensuring all learners have the experience of working with specialised products
The Level 2 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing is an internationally recognised qualification that is essential for a career in hairdressing.
The Diploma is delivered over a course of 42 weeks.
11 units will be completed covering all the basic skills you need to progress further within your qualification.
Units will include opportunities to enter competitions which will further enhance and develop your skills
- Under 19: Four GCSEs at grades D-E or above, or Introduction to the Hair & Beauty Sector Level 1.
- Over 19: There are no formal entry requirements. However, a formal interview is required before acceptance.
Learning activities include practical skills sessions and theory sessions that will include online exams and assignments. Also working in the commercial salon gaining industry experience and completing practical assessments
You will be required to wear a uniform for all practical lessons and a kit is essential to aid successful completion of this course. These costs will be discussed at interview.
Progression onto Level 3 hairdressing will be the next step you can take. This will lead you onto expanding your career further and gaining employment.
