Animal Care Level 2 Extended Certificate at Northumberland College
If you are passionate about animals and would like an introduction to the career opportunities available within the animal care industry, you have come to the right place. Northumberland college offers the opportunity to get up close and personal to a range of species and how to care for them to a high standard. The certificate in Animal Care is designed as a steady introduction into the topic and is focused around a practical setting.
You will study exciting units including animal husbandry, animal health & welfare, zoo animals and wildlife along with additional side qualifications. Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens offers the opportunity to gain first-hand experience with a wide variety of animals including all five taxa groups such as birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles and mammals.
For access onto the course you will be required to have attained a standard of general education and competence, sufficient enough to benefit from and succeed on the course. Assessment of suitability is likely to be based on GCSE grades or equivalent. Recommended two GCSE grades (grade D or above). Mature students with relevant experience will also be considered.
Your progress will be assessed continuously by assignments, verbal and practical assessments, and various types of written tests. Assessments are spread out and varied to allow all of your skills to be utilised.
After studying the course you could progress onto the level 2 full Diploma in Animal Care.
