Foundation Certificate in Building Craft Occupations at Calderdale College
Foundation Certificate in Building Craft Occupations delivered at the North Halifax Skills Centre (Club Lane) only. The course covers Wood occupations; Trowel trades; Painting and Decorating and Plastering.
This is a multi-trade course which runs over 22 weeks as part of the Study Programme. At the end of this period you will have achieved a national Level 1 in Building Craft Occupations.
You will study units such as:
- Handle and store construction materials and components
- Fix construction components
- Mix construction materials
- Cut, lay and fix construction components
- Apply finishing materials
- Set out for construction components
No formal entry requirements.
Candidates must sit an externally set and marked knowledge test and are practically assessed on each unit continually throughout the course.
In most cases students aged 18 and under who wish to enrol on a full time further education course will have their fees waived. Students who are aged 19 and over and who wish to enrol on a full time course should contact our Student Services Team on 01422-399367 for more information.
All successful students will get the opportunity to progress onto a trade specific full Level 1 construction course which will be in either: Wood occupations; Trowel trades; Painting and Decorating or Plastering. Employment opportunities could include an apprenticeship in your chosen trade area.
