Physics at The Warriner School
This course aims to nurture and support a student’s passion for the study of physics. A broad and balanced range of content is covered, with an accompanying strong emphasis on practical skills ideally preparing learners for further study or employment. The AQA syllabus has 4 main aims for students:
The AS level course features 2 examined modules and a practical assessment which, when combined, make up half of the full A-Level qualification. Each examined module is worth 40% of the AS and 20 % of the overall A level. The practical assessment is worth 20% of the AS and 10% of the overall A level.
The A2 level course features 2 further examined modules and a further practical assessment which, when combined, make up the remaining half of the full A-Level qualification. Each examined module is worth 20 % of the overall A level.
The practical assessment is worth the final 10% of the overall A level.
Students enrolling on this course need to have at least a grade B in both Core and Additional Science or a grade B in GCSE Physics. Due to the high mathematical content of the course, they will also need to have achieved at least a B grade in their Maths GCSE. For those students who did not study separate sciences at GCSE, individual module results may be taken into consideration.
