Sociology at The Fallibroome Academy

Course description

Sociology looks at how society is organised through institutions like the family, education, media, law,
religion and how these affect individuals within society. It also considers many contemporary social
issues and problems like crime, class, gender, culture, ethnicity and identity.
Sociology has been a popular subject at Fallibroome for over 10 years with around one hundred
students currently taking it. It involves exciting discussions, projects, group work, reading and essay
writing. The department has excellent interactive electronic facilities to enhance teaching and learning and a
special student ‘chill out zone’ to further studies and engage with sociological films.

Entry requirements

Grade B or above in GCSE English Language or Religious Studies. Students will need to be interested in
current affairs although no previous experience of Sociology is needed.
