Applied Media at The Elizabethan Academy
Course Content An exciting course aimed at students who have a keen interest in the media world we live in. Allows you to gain first hand experience in producing moving image, print, web and audio projects.
3 Units at 'AS' level, including:
Unit 1 - Industries, Texts and Audiences: How the media industry is structured, how a media company is internally organised, how media texts are constructed in relation to their audiences and how audiences use media products.
Unit 2 - Skills for Media Production, Research Methods and Techniques: The different purposes of research, the production technology available and production techniques and skills.
Unit 3 - Media Production Project: Pre-production skills and techniques, production skills and techniques, post-production skills and techniques.
3 Units at 'A2' level, including:
Unit 4 - Research for Media Development: How to originate and research ideas for production, how to research audience and viability of a production, how to develop a production and how to present ideas and findings.
Unit 5 - Media Production Project: How to plan a production and how to manage a production.
Unit 6 - Professional Practice in the Media Industry: To take account of the relevant constraints on your production work, to evaluate your work in relation to past and current practice, to assess how well you have managed the production process and to evaluate how successfully you achieved your intentions.
You will need at least 5 GCSEs at A* - C (including GCSE Mathematics and/or GCSE English Language). 'AS': At least grade C in GCSE English language 'A2': At least grade D in 'AS' Media
