BTEC IT Level 2 Diploma at The Downs School

Course description

Students will enjoy this course if they would like to:

 learn about the variety and purpose of different document types and how to present information

 learn about the different parts of a computer system, how they connect together and how they may now be found in everyday items like a mobile telephone, a car or a washing machine

 learn how to work with computer graphics

 learn how to design, build and publish a website

 learn how to plan and manage projects

 learn what goes into the designing and developing of computer games

 work effectively with others

 gain the knowledge, understanding and skills to prepare them for employment in any job where ICT is used

Entry requirements

Entrants will need at least four GCSE‟s at GRADES D or E, including English and Mathematics. Students should enjoy using and learning about ICT and have an interest in developing the knowledge and skills needed to be a competent and informed ICT user and practitioner.

Coursework.

Future opportunities

The BTEC First Diploma for ICT Practitioners will pave the way for students to study ICT, Computing or any other subject at level 3 taking a BTEC National Diploma or Certificate, a Level 3 Diploma or A Levels.

Alternatively students could go into employment. ICT skills are much in demand and the ones students learn on this course will also support their studies in other subjects.
