English is offered at both foundation and higher levels.

Assessment

Coursework accounts for 40% of your final mark. This is divided into 20% for written pieces, including writing to entertain, writing about media texts, a Shakespeare play and a pre-1914 text.
A further 20% is assessed on Speaking and Listening. You will be assessed on three separate occasions in a variety of different settings, individually, in groups or pairs and in a drama-focused piece.
You will be expected to show that you can use Standard English in spoken and written English.
