Diploma in Information Technology Level 2 at Stockton Riverside College

Course description

We all use technology every day whether at school, work or at home. You can put that knowledge to good use by turning it into a future career. If you are interested in how computers work, want to learn how to write code or build a computer network that is secure from hackers, we have the course for you.

Course content

By using hands-on practical experience you will learn a range of skills including how computer systems work, how to protect computers and data, how to programme (including games programming) how to design and create your own website and how to design and build a computer network. Using industry-standard hardware and software you will work on projects and assignments, often based on realistic workplace demands. You will be taught through tutor-led practical and work-related activities.

Entry requirements

You will need a relevant Level 1 qualification plus two GCSEs grade D or above including Maths and English or a minimum of four GCSEs grade D or above with Maths and English.

Assessment

You will be assessed by coursework generated through tutor-led workshops, demonstrations, practical activities and portfolio building.

Future opportunities

After this course you can progress to a relevant Level 3 qualificiation, such as the BTEC Extended Diploma in IT Practitioners.
