Vehicle Technology (Motor Sport) Level 2 BTEC Diploma at Suffolk One

Course description

This course is design for students wishing to develop a career as a motor vehicle technician, by giving students the opportunity to gain an understanding of the sector. The automotive sector continues to suffer from a skills gap and needs to keep up with rapidly developing technologies. New entrants to the sector need to build the underpinning knowledge and specific skills needed to meet the needs of modern vehicle industries.

Course content

This course is assessed through a series of coursework assignments that involve you applying the knowledge you have learnt in the practical environment and the underpinning theory covered in lessons. Assignments will be marked at Pass, Merit or Distinction level depending on the quality of the work you have produced. At level 2 there will be a mixture of practical assessments and theory written assignments.

You will study 3 mandatory units and additional specialist units (including a few examples that are provided below - these are subject to change)

5 GCSE's A* - E to include GCSE Maths and English at grade D

Future opportunities

The course provides a high level of automotive knowledge and is designed for students who wish to seek employment as a technician, rather than a garage mechanic. Following the successful completion of this qualification at Merit or Distinction level and having achieved grade C GCSE in English and Maths you will be able to progress to the Level 3 in Vehicle Technology (Motor Sport).
