CACHE Diploma in Education and Care (Early Years Educator) Level 3 at The Maltings College

Course description

The course will mark the next stage in your career in the early years and education sector. It will allow you to progress to higher education and will provide you with the foundations to start your future in early years care and education. It develops an understanding of children and the best methods of childcare and education.

Our lectuers are unique in that they have worked within the childcare sector for many years so have a great deal of knowledge to pass along to you.

You will need to undertake 750 hours work experience in a relevant vocational setting. Your lecturer will help to arrange this.

We have an onsite nursery and our classrooms are built to provide a practical and unique learning experience.

Course content

You have to complete 750 hours work experience as part of the course within a nursery, primary or related children’s centre setting.

3 days at college and 2 days on work experience.

Our tutors work closely with the managers and staff from the Fountain Springs Day Nursery based in The Maltings - our local OFSTED ‘Outstanding’ nursery. www.fountainsprings.co.uk

You will learn how to:

  • understand the development of a child from conception to seven years
  • provide a safe environment for children
  • observe, assess and plan lessons
  • understand emergent literature
  • understand emergent mathematics
  • use reflective practice for professional development

Entry requirements

To apply for a Level 3 course you need to hold a minimum of 5 A* - C GCSE grades (or equivalent). Some of our Level 2 courses offer access to our Level 3 courses. Of course, we recognise that there can sometimes be circumstances where it is appropriate for students who may not meet these requirements to join a course at a particular level. Please do contact us to discuss your application should this be the case.

Task-based controlled assessment.

Financial information

Financial assistance for meals, transport, course uniform and equipment is available for students who meet the criteria set out by the DFE.
