OCR Cambridge Technical Diploma in Sport at Solihull College & University Centre

Course description

The Level 2 Diploma in sport is ideal for you if you want take the first steps towards a career in the sport and leisure industry, developing the knowledge and skills from experts in the sector for jobs such a Leisure Assistant or an Assistant Gym Instructor.

You will learn about the effects and benefits of exercising and staying active as well as given training in communications and leadership skills.

Course content

During the course, you will study subjects such as:

- Anatomy and Physiology for Sports Performance,
- The Effects of Exercise on the Body
- Developing Personal Fitness
- Nutrition for Sports Performance
- Practical Sports
- Lifestyle of the Sports Performer
- Fitness Testing and Training

Entry requirements

Places are offered following a successful interview and a reference.


To pass this course you will need to complete a variety of assessments such as:

Practical assignments, Role plays, Course work & Presentations.

Future opportunities

If you are successful on this course, you will be able to continue studying towards Level 3 in Sport.

Further information

Successful applicants will need to purchase college logo kit to be worn during practical lessons. Further payment will also be required to pay for any intended trips and visits.

Course Sports kit and text books will be an additional cost (enquire on enrolment)

Trips will be organised for the programme and prices are currently under review.

Good levels of English and Maths are important for your success in your course, your chosen vocation and life. Throughout your course you will continue to develop your English and Maths skills in your vocational classes.

If you haven't achieved an A*/9 - C/4 grade in English or Maths at GCSE, or a Level 2 Functional Skill, you will also be working towards a qualification in English or Maths at a level that will enable you to progress towards these grades.

If you have a Learning Difficulty or Disability please let us know when you apply. You will be offered support in your interview. If you need help completing your application we can help with this too.
