Paper 1: 1B Breadth study with interpretations:
England, 1509-1603: authority, nation and religion
Paper 2: 2B.1 Depth study:
Luther and the German Reformation c1515-1555
Paper 3: 36.1 Themes in breadth with aspects in depth:
Protest, agitation and parliamentary reform in Britain, c1780-1928.
Coursework: Independently-researched enquiry
A minimum of Six A*-C at GCSEs including a grade C in English; ability to write fluent english essays.
There are 3 written examinations:
Paper 1: 2 hr 15 mins (30% of the total qualification)
Paper 2: 1 hr 30 mins (20% of the total qualification)
Paper 3: 2 hr 15 mins (30% of the total qualification)
Coursework: 3000-4000 words (20% of the total qualification)

History A Level is valuable at university when studying not only History degrees but also subjects such as Law, Journalism, Tourism, Archaeology, Politics, Sociology and many other profiles.
You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in History, which could lead onto higher education in History or related subjects such as English, American Studies, Politics , Archaeology or more general courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to history by seeking employment in areas of heritage such as working for a museum or within education such as a teacher. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
