Foundation Learning Level 1 Information Technology at Trafford College

Course description

This course is designed to enable learners to develop knowledge and understanding of different software applications available to them. Students will gain experience in the following:* Word* PowerPoint* Excel* Desktop Publishing* Databases* Audio Visual software* Website design* Using IT to improve productivityThe course is assessed through a variety of projects and assignments which the learners undertake throughout the year.The core of the course is at Level 1 but the learners will also progress their English and maths if they have not attained a C at GCSE. The English and maths levels the students take depends upon the ability of the student and their prior attainment.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade E or above

Assessment

Portfolio - You will create a portfolio of evidence assessed throughout the year.English and maths assessed via formal examination.

Financial information

Students wil be expected to take part in several mandatory trips and visits, which may incur small costs.

Future opportunities

Successful students may progress to a Level 2 course, Traineeships or Employment. Learners who achieve Level 2 Functional English and maths may progress to an apprenticeship.
