Health & Social Care A Level at St Peter's Catholic Comprehensive School
Practical experiences will include: training from a Smoking Cessation Advisor, delivery of a Health Promotion activity to Year 7 pupils, a placement in a Primary or Pre-school, a placement in a Day Centre or Residential Care Home, input from health professionals.
Learning will require the completion of 3 units Promoting Quality Care an examined unit which looks at the rights, responsibilities and values which underpin all Health and Social Care professions. Communication in Care Settings – A coursework unit based on a placement at a day centre, residential home a primary, pre-school or school for students with special needs. Promoting Good Health- A coursework unit which demonstrates an understanding of Health Promotion and factors which influence health. Students deliver a health promotion presentation to a year 7 group.
- Enthusiasm, commitment and an interest in a related career.
- You will spend time out of school on placement and will meet numerous practitioners – personal maturity and responsibility are key characteristics.
- The ability to manage continuous assessment.
- A minimum of 5 Cs at GCSE.
