IT User (ITQ) BTEC Level 3 at Campion School

Course description

We are very pleased to introduce the BTEC Level 3 IT User course this is to replace ‘Applied ICT’ which is no longer on offer. This is a vocationally-focused course which allows students to learn and apply a range of IT skills. Throughout the two-year course students will develop and apply skills such as networking different systems, writing formal user policies, creating multimedia presentations, developing websites and so on.

Students studying this course will learn all of the necessary skills and academic knowledge suitable for starting employment, an apprenticeship or a University course. BTEC Level 3 IT User (ITQ) is designed around the work produced by the student, where they will be given a task to complete by a certain deadline and the work that they produce will help determine their final grade. This course is assessed through 100% portfolio work.

Entry requirements

Although useful to have achieved a grade C at GCSE ICT, it is not essential. What is important is a passion for IT in operation, a desire to succeed and to be committed to the course of study. This course is wholly assessed through portfolio work, therefore the ability for those who choose this subject to organise their time well and meet deadlines is also of great importance.

Future opportunities

This course allows students to develop a range of practical and applied skills that will enable them to pursue their next steps in IT. The BTEC Level 3 IT User allows students to move forward securely into employment, an apprenticeship or University. Good IT skills are becoming an essential requirement for careers in many aspects of life.
