Sport BTEC Level 2 at Shooters Hill Sixth Form College

Course description

The BTEC Level 2 Sport course has been designed specifically to give you a range of skills and techniques essential for working in the sport and leisure sector and for progression to related Level 3 courses. Learners will study towards a BTEC Certificate in Sport, and have the potential to progress to Level 3 Sport or Sport Science courses with attainment of a minimum of a merit overall, and sufficient improvement and achievement in English and Maths as well as excellent behaviour, punctuation and attendance to all parts of your study programme!

Course content

Your study programme will include English, Maths, PSHE and tutorial sessions as well as the vocational sport lessons.

The sport lessons involve a mix of demanding practical tasks and written work that will give you a good foundation on career opportunities and the preparation needed for the work place and/or progression to level 3 sport or sports science courses here at the Campus.

You will complete a range of assessments for each unit including internal and external testing, practical assessments, presentations and course work.

Fitness for Sport & Exercise
Practical Sports Performance

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs Grade D or above, including English, or a BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Sport, or equivalent.

Further information

Students may attend several offsite trips and activities as part of their course, and will be expected to purchase sports kit via the Campus for practical lessons.

The Campus offers a wide range of enrichment activities both sport and non-sport based.
