Music Technology Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma at Bridgwater College

Course description

This course is suitable for students with a keen interest in the technology that underlies modern music creation and multimedia art forms. Students should have a willingness to extend their musical horizons as well as a determination to develop specialist areas of interest.

Course content

This advanced course in music technology allows you to study all aspects of the industry. In year two of the course students are encouraged to specialise in areas of performance which interest them.

You will study at least 18 units (modules), which, on successful completion will give you a qualification the equivalent of three A levels.

Entry requirements

At least five GCSEs grades A*- C or a relevant level 2 qualification. Entry is also subject to a successful interview.

Assessment

  • Assessment is by coursework based on assignments set in each unit
  • Assignments will involve: technology projects, individual research, group work and project work

At Bridgwater College, a structured and demanding schedule of study is combined with a monitoring process which sets achievement targets which are challenging but realistic.

Future opportunities

Every year Extended Diploma Music Technology students progress to some of the best known universities for music technology in the country. 

We now offer an HND course in Music Production, which can be 'topped up' to a full degree a a wide range of different universities

Music technology students are also accepted on education courses and a range of other courses.

Employment in the entertainment or recording industries at technician or trainee management level.
