Hairdressing Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2 at PETROC

Course description

A hairdressing apprentice will work as a salon junior, assisting senior staff while training as a junior stylist. You will study a minimum of nine units leading to the NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing. Functional skills might also be studied alongside hairdressing, strengthening your employability, but this depends on your GCSE results.

Course content

Assessment is by practical observation (some of which will be carried out in your salon of employment), assignments, oral questions and written test papers. A qualification of Employment Rights and Responsibilities will also be achieved within the Apprenticeship Framework.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at Grade D or equivalent to include maths and English. You will also be required to have employment within a salon working a minimum of 16 hours per week to support you in developing your hairdressing and customer care skills.

Future opportunities

You may progress onto a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Hairdressing to obtain a senior stylist position and further career opportunities.
