Course content
Geography will provide you with the opportunity to discover how the world works from both a physical and human perspective. It allows you to gain knowledge about other countries, cultures and the physical processes that combine to affect our planet. Geography allows you to gain an understanding of the modern world and how human activity affects it. With increasing public awareness of global warming and other environmental issues, geography is more relevant than ever before!
By choosing this course you will develop your communication and presentation skills, expand your understanding of current world events, and gain a more developed understanding of different cultures and beliefs. In addition, you will take part in debates as well as learn how to analyse literature and cinema. Finally, your mastering of grammar and linguistics will allow you to gain a much more comprehensive understanding of your own language.
Entry requirements
Minimum of five GCSEs at grade 5/C or above, including Geography.
Assessment
A total of 3 examinations
Component 1: Physical geography , 2hr 30 minute exam 40 % of final grade . Water and carbon cycle and Coastal systems
Component 2: Human Geography 2hr 30 minute exam 40 % of final grade
Global systems and Global Governance Changing Places Contemporary Urban Environments
Component 3 : Field work investigation 20% of final grade
3,000– 4,000 piece of coursework
