Early Years Educator CACHE Level 3 at Barnet and Southgate College

Course description

This two year qualification is designed to help learners build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5-7 years.

Course content

The 2 year course will be made up of 15 Units. Year 1: -Child development from conception to seven years -Children's health and well-being -Providing safe enviroments for children -Child Health -Play and learning -Understanding children's additional needs -Observation, assessment and planning -Professional Practice Portfolio 1 Year 2: -Supporting emergent literacy -Supporting emergent mathematics - Preparing for school readiness -International perspectives -Reflective practice for professional development -Professional partnerships in early years Professional Practice Portfolio Work placement in two different settings covering the age range of 0-5 years.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE's at grade C or above including English Language and Mathematics or the Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People Workforce plus Functional Skills in Maths and English at Level 2.

Assessment

Internal assessment by a range of methods including direct observations, e-portfolio of evidence, written assignments and a set of synoptic assessment tasks set by CACHE. You will also need to show competence in a real work environment. Full achievement of the qualification will not be possible until ALL components are complete. Please ensure you bring to your interview a handwritten personal statement of approx. 200 words about why you want to work in Childcare
