GCSE Business Studies at Kingston College

Course description

Understanding how modern large and small businesses operate is at the core of GCSE Business Studies; it is not normally one studied at schools and is ideal preparation for the AS levels in Accounting, Business Studies and Economics. You will look at businesses locally and further afield and also have the opportunity to do a real world case study.

Course content

On the 9-1 GCSE Business Studies course students will study topics including business activity; marketing; human resources; business operations; finance and internal and external influences on businesses.

Entry requirements

The normal offer for entry on to the GCSE course is four GCSEs at grade 3 or above. If you have studied GCSE Business at school, we would expect you to have achieved a minimum of a grade 3. This course can only be studied as part of the Full Time GCSE course alongside another four GCSE subjects.

Assessment

There are two written exams at the end of the GCSE course, each worth 50% of the GCSE. There are no tiers of entry on the 9-1 GCSE Business Studies, all candidates sit the same exam.

Future opportunities

If a student achieves a grade 5 or above they will be able to progress on to a Level 3 course such as A Levels.

    • The site at Kingston Hall Road is the College's main site and houses the Student Registry and Welfare departments as well as Deli KC and the ACT Theatre.  The Arena Sports facility and Arena Hair and Beauty are both attached to this building, which also houses the central administration facility for the College.
