Health and Social Care BTEC Level 2 at Runshaw College

Course description

What will I learn?

This is a one year course for anyone who is interested in working with people, especially groups such as the young or the elderly who need extra help or support.

Many students go on to follow careers in one of the caring professions. You will study a variety of topics including communication, supporting health and well-being, human lifespan and creative and therapeutic activities. You will have the opportunity to attend work placement to develop your skills working with others.

Please note that as part of the course you will study English and Maths and due to the placements you will have you will need to complete a Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check to confirm you do not have any cautions or convictions which would put in question your suitability to work in these areas.

Entry requirements

For access to our Level 2 courses, our entry requirements are 4 x grade D equivalent (4 x Grade 3 or D).
For Health and Social Care specifically, this should include GCSE grade 3 and 4 in Maths and English Language.

Assessment

The course is assessed through coursework which takes the form of assignments, set at intervals throughout the year and some external assessment.
