Extended Project Qualification at Kendrick Academy

Course description

What is the Extended Project Qualification?

It is an opportunity to do a long-term project in a subject area in which you are interested (it does not have to be linked to your academic studies). The outcome of the project may be an essay (approximately 5000 words), but it could also be in an alternative style, for example:

  •  Musical score
  •  Artefact, model or construction
  •  Portfolio or exhibition of photographs
  •  CD/DVD of an artistic or musical performance or activity
  •  Journal of events
  •  Computer program

These would need to have an accompanying report, but this will naturally be shorter.

Assessment

You will complete a Production Log during the project, submit a written report and do a presentation to an audience at the end of your project. All these elements are assessed:

AO1 - Manage
AO2 - Use resources/research
AO3 - Develop and realise
 AO4 - Review

Future opportunities

The Extended Project Qualification improves independent learning skills that are often under-developed by the traditional A Level qualifications. These skills are crucial to success in further education; consequently all universities, including Oxford, Cambridge and other top universities, have shown full support for students who have completed the Extended Project Qualification.
