Business and Enterprise - Level 3 Extended Diploma at City of Oxford College
Sharpen your entrepreneurial skills and develop the mindset you need to start your own business with the Business and Enterprise, Level 3, Extended Diploma. This exciting course has been developed in consultation with entrepreneurs, business people, experienced teachers and learners.
This diploma covers the following areas:
• the innovative entrepreneur
• business planning
• pitching your ideas
• launching your business vision
• brand development and promotion
• teamwork and leadership
• market research and analysis
• e-marketing and website design
• financial planning and implementation
In addition you can study functional skills in English, maths or ICT. Individual learning targets are set each term and you will receive regular feedback on your progress in meeting these targets. Formal assessment is through assignments, projects, presentations and practical assessments, which are set at regular intervals throughout the course. The functional skills are assessed by an external exam.
Learning activities include lectures, team activities and visits to local businesses. You take part in entrepreneur competitions, visit SAID Business School, do research tasks, and undertake volunteering opportunities. There are discussions, debates and work placements. You spend five days a week in college participating in classroom lectures, workshops and hands-on enterprise activities, and you benefit from contact with experienced entrepreneurs and business people.
A strong emphasis is placed on working and learning with others and you are regularly set tasks to complete in partnership with other students. You also need to be able to work independently and take responsibility for your own learning.
5 or more GCSEs grades A*-C including English and maths
BTEC level 2 Diploma grade Merit or Distinction plus GCSE grade C or above or Functional Skills at level 2 in English and maths

Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an internal assessment. All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.
This BTEC course is a practical work and business-related course. All units are assessed through written and oral assignments. There are no exams. You ‘learn by doing’, i.e. completing projects and assignments based on real businesses in the area.
Team activities, visits to local businesses, entrepreneur competitions at university, visits to SAID Business School, research tasks, presentations, volunteering opportunities, discussions, debates and work placements are all part of the way you learn.
Complete this course successfully and you are well placed to start up your own company or to work within a business and help it to grow.
