Painting and Decorating Level 2 Diploma at Lincoln College

Course description

This course includes practical and theoretical elements of Painting & Decorating, providing you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to progress. This programme will also offer you support, preparing you for the construction industry.
Successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma could lead onto potential careers including: working within the construction industry and working as a painter.
During the course, you will study: Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction; Principles of Building Construction, Information and Communication; Preparing Surfaces for Decoration; Applying Paint Systems by Brush and roller to Complex Areas; Applying Standard Papers to Walls and Ceilings; Producing Specialist Finishes for Decorative Work’ Erecting and Dismantling Access Equipment and Working Platforms; Creating and Applying Colour.


Entry requirements

You will need to have successfully completed a Level 1 Painting & Decorating programme or have appropriate knowledge of both theoretical and practical skills and will ideally have experience using both hand and power tools. You will also be required to have GCSE’s in Mathematics and English (minimum Grade E). You will also be required to pass a trade test as-well as a literacy and numeracy test.
You will be required to attend an interview and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).


Assessment is a combination of practical tests and written examinations.
