Science (Dual Award) GCSE at The Priory CofE Voluntary Aided School

Course description

Science is the field of study which attempts to describe and understand the nature of the universe. You may be able to study the following separate subjects: biology, chemistry and physics, or a mixture of them all in science. Find out which are available at your school. There are many jobs which need science, research carefully before deciding which to take (if you have the option).

Future opportunities

You could take this course to prepare for an NVQ Level 1 or 2 in a related subject and depending on your other qualifications, you could progress onto courses leading to the Advanced GCE in Science or Applied Science. With further training, you could go into a job related to science such as a Laboratory Researcher, Science Technician or Pharmacist. You could also go straight into employment as the course is delivered through a work-based training programme, will help you develop the basic scientific skills, knowledge and understanding that employers across the science disciplines are looking for. You could take this course, which is equivalent to two GCSE's, to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in Science and specialise in one area of science or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification. With further training, you could go into a job related to science such as a Teacher, Pharmacist or Science Technician . You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
