Literature and Performance S/L IB (Block B) at Northfleet Technology College

Course description

You will follow the International Baccalaureate Literature and Performance at Standard Level (SL). By the end of the course you will be expected to have:

  • knowledge and understanding of texts of different genre and cultures;
  • an appreciation of the literary techniques and performance potential in the texts studied;
  • an ability to speak and write effectively about texts and performances
  • commitment and ability as performers;
  • practical understanding of the principles and processes involved in making performances.

Students produce one piece of writing that incorporates critical analysis of the text as well as reflection on a performance of it.

Turn a piece of literature into an interpretive performance.

12 minute oral presentation

(40% of final grade)

Entry requirements

GCSE English and Maths grade 4 or above, with three other subjects at a C/L2 Pass or above.

Assessment

Controlled assessment: 60%

Final examination:        40%
