Beauty Therapy Techniques Diploma (17+ only) Level 3 at PETROC

Course description

The therapy techniques used in the beauty business are becoming more and more advanced, so higher level qualifications are becoming ever more valuable to employers.

Petroc has an excellent training environment for Beauty Therapy with well equipped salons. Further resources are available within the college to support your studies including the library, IT rooms and resources centre.

Course content

As well as the practical skill content of this study programme, you'll also be offered the chance to improve your real-world employability skills, to give you the best chance to secure the job of your dreams.

This is a Level 3 programme designed to offer the general range of advanced beauty therapy techniques required by the industry. Additional qualifications are offered alongside to enhance knowledge and employability. Units covered: Health and Safety, Working in the Beauty Therapy Industry, Consultation and Communication, Selling Techniques and Personal Health and Well-being. The qualification is taught within well-equipped salons and we also have a nail bar.

Entry requirements

All entrants must hold GCSE English Language at grade 4/5 or above and preferably GCSE Maths at grade 4/5 or above, amongst the 5 GCSEs at grade C required for entry. 

Entrants not holding a grade 4 in Maths, but who have a grade 2/3, will study GCSE Maths and take the examination at the end of the year. Completing first years will not be able to automatically continue into their second year without achieving GCSE Maths at grade 4.

A full Level 2 vocational qualification in Beauty Therapy at Merit or above. Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English.

Assessment

Units are internally assessed and you will build a portfolio of your work. Assessed activities will include practical and written assignments and online tests. Your work will be graded as a Pass, Merit or Distinction. A Pass is awarded for the achievement of all required outcomes against specified.

Future opportunities

Many students have gone onto working on cruise ships and in holiday resorts, many have stayed locally working in salons, too.
