Textile Design A Level at Northgate High School
Students are required to work in one or more areas of textile design such as fashion design or printed fabrics amongst others. They will be expected to demonstrate skills in their chosen area, such as awareness of audience or purpose, appreciation of form and function, working to a brief and textile methods.
Students will explore a range of textile media, processes and techniques. They will use drawing for different purposes, using a variety of methods and media. Relevant image, artefacts and resources will be integral to the investigating and making processes. A mix of practical and critical activities will be undertaken. The theory is taught by structured lessons, research, problem solving, investigations and group work.
Subject specific entry requirements: GCSE grade C in Art and/or Textiles and GCSE grade 4 in English Language.
A wide variety of careers in the fashion industry and other related areas from management to designing and journalism.
