A Level Business Studies at Kingston College
Business is probably the best subject in the world. You will study business in a variety of contexts (e.g. large/small, UK focused / global, Service / manufacturing) and explore and consider: the importance of the context of business in relation to decision making- the interrelated nature of business activities and how they affect competitiveness- the competitive environment and the market in which they operate- the influence on functional decisions and plans including ethical and environmental issues-the factors that might determine whether a decision is successful e.g. the quality of data and the degree of uncertainty-how technology is changing the way decisions are made and how business operate and compete- the impact of stakeholders of functional decisions and their response to such decisions. We will study rags to riches as well as hero to Zero firms.
A Level Business is a linear qualification with students taking the final examination after two years of study. Issues covered include business objectives and strategic decisions; understanding external influences facing businesses; marketing and marketing strategies; operational strategies; human resources; accounting and finance and the global business environment.

A Level entry criteria are a minimum of five GCSEs, at grades 9-5, all in academic subjects. These must include a minimum of a grade 5 in GCSE English and a grade 5 in GCSE Mathematics. If students have taken GCSE Business they must have achieved a minimum of a grade 5. This qualification can only be studied alongside two other A Level subjects.
Many students go on to study Business courses at university.
Kingston Sixth has an excellent track record of being an established A Level provider.
