Psychology at Didcot Sixth Form College

Course description

AS Unit 1 Cognitive Psychology.

Unit 2 Biological Psychology, Social Psychology.

A2 Unit 3 Topics in Psychology.

Unit 4 Psychopathology: Psychology in Action.

In Year 12 the topics of memory and children’s attachments are studied and an understanding of how psychology research is carried out and gained. In Biological psychology, social psychology and individual differences, topics include: stress, conformity, obedience and mental disorders.

In Year 13 several topics will be studied including biological rhythms and sleep, relationships and aggression. A study of the mental disorder of depression is made as well as looking at media psychology and investigating research methods in depth.

Entry requirements

If you achieve at least 5 C grades or above or the equivalent youcould consider Advanced Level courses.However, for the majority of Level 3 subjects B grades at GCSEare required. Specific grade requrements for subjects are available from staff and will be discussed at interview .
