BTEC National Diploma in Sport at The Robert Napier School
The BTEC Diploma Course is a 2 year, Level 3 Qualification worth 2 A Levels.
The Diploma Course is made up of both practical and theoretical elements, and students will complete 13 units to total 120 credits.
Unit 1: Principles of Anatomy and
Physiology in Sport.
Unit 2: The Physiology of Fitness
Unit 3: Assessing Risk in Sport
Unit 4: Fitness Training and programming
Unit 7: Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise
Unit 17: Psychology.
Unit 18: Sports Injuries.
Unit 5: Sports Coaching
Unit 8: Practical Team Sports
Unit 11: Sports Nutrition
Unit12: Current Issues In Sport
Unit 27: Technical and Tactical Skills in Sport
Unit 28: The Athlete’s Lifestyle
Candidates are expected to have successfully completed five passes at GCSE grade C or above, including one of the following;
* GCSE PE
* A merit grade in BTEC First Diploma in Sport
Candidates need to;
* Be talented at Sport
* Bring PE kit to all PE lessons
* Have high levels of attendance
* Have a good range of Sports interest and knowledge
* Be self motivated
* Be well organised and able to meet assignment deadlines
* Enjoy a challenge
Assessment is 100% assignment based.
All of the assignments require some kind of practical element; and it is necessary therefore, that students attend each lesson prepared for practical activity. Students must dress appropriately, especially in the coaching and leadership units.
Careers in Exercise and Fitness, Coaching, Sports Development, Delivery of Outdoor Activities, Physiotherapy, Sports Medicine, Sports Psychology, Teaching, Sports Journalism and working in the Sports Leisure Industry.
A solid foundation in the sporting sector, enabling students to develop essential skills required for gaining employment, securing career progression, or progressing to further qualifications and training.
