Plastering Diploma - Level 2 at Dudley College

Course description

The aim of this course is to provide learners with a set of basic skills to help them gain employment in the plumbing industry as an apprentice or trainee

Course content

Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing studies is made up of the following units:
• Health and Safety in building services engineering
• Electrical principles and processes for building services engineering
• Scientific principles for domestic, industrial and commercial plumbing
• Common plumbing processes
• Cold water systems
• Domestic hot water systems
• Sanitation
• Central heating systems
• Drainage systems
• Understand how to communicate with others within building services engineering
• Functional skills/GCSE maths and English
• Work experience
• Performance improvement programme.

Entry requirements

You should have completed the Level 1 diploma course but may be accepted without this subject to a successful interview.

  • Coursework
  • Oral examination
  • Practical examination

• Online examination.

Financial information

There is no need to worry about the costs of coming to college as there is lots of financial help available. Our finance and welfare officers will be able to talk to you about any help that may be available to you based on your individual circumstances.

Students aged 16-18 attending a full-time further education course can apply to the 16-18 Bursary Fund for help with college related costs. Free BUS PASS

 

We will provide a free bus pass to help with travel costs for 16-18* year olds on full-time programmes, based on individual circumstances**. To qualify for a free bus pass***, you must live more than one mile from the campus at which you will be studying and not already be in receipt of other financial support, such as Care to Learn funding.

 

*Under 19 as at 31 August 2017.

 

**Students with learning difficulties or disabilities who are unable to access public transport may still be able to receive help – talk to our Student Finance team.

 

***Evidence of family income will need to be provided.

Future opportunities

You can progress to the NVQ Level 2 or to study and achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Plastering. Many craft occupations can often move into supervision, management or technical support area.
