Course description

Religious Studies is one of the fastest growing A level subjects in the UK at present. It is a subject which appeals to those students who want to truly understand the global impact of religious and ethical issues on contemporary society. It is well received as a subject at universities and combines well with a wide range of other subjects. Students who have completed their course have commented positively on how it has increased their awareness of the world they live in. A faith background is not necessary to study this course. A2 Units continue work on Religion and Ethics and Religion, Philosophy and Science

SUGGESTED SUBJECT COMBINATIONS: History, English, Philosophy, Media Studies, Art, Sociology and Psychology You could take this course with other advanced level courses as a general preparation for a higher education course or as a foundation for studying Theology or Religious Studies at Higher education. With further training, you could go into a job related to Religious issues such as a Social Worker, Priest, Counsellor or Teacher. As with the other humanities, Religion is a good foundation for entering employment as it helps you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for, especially in sectors where people are the main focus.
