Bricklaying Diploma Level 3 at City College

Course description

The Diploma level 3 course is for those who have already been successful in achieving a Level 2 qualification in Bricklaying, or who are able to demonstrate considerable experience of bricklaying skills prior to joining the course. Achievement of this course will enable learner to more towards employment in the bricklaying trade and to NVQ training.

Course content

You will study a number of units, including:-
carrying out safe working practices in construction; information, quantities and communicating with others; building methods and construction technology; interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures; thin joint masonry and masonry cladding; building solid walling, isolated and attached piers; building cavity walling and forming masonry structures

Entry requirements

As a guide, learners should be able to work at a level equivalent to GCSE Mathematics and English at Grades A-D. All learners must pass an assessment test as part of an interview, and will have already achieved a Foundation Construction Award or City & Guilds 6217 prior to joining this course, or be able to demonstrate considerable experience in bricklaying skills. To successfully complete the full qualification it is necessary for you to achieve 90% attendance.

Assessment

You will be required to complete a number of formal practical assessments, knowledge tests, an on-line computer based multiple choice test (GOLA), and compile a portfolio of work as you go along. Assessment is continuous throughout the duration of the course. 
All elements must be successfully achieved in order to gain full certification.

Financial information

All students pay a non-refundable Administration Fee of £10.00 regardless of status. The course fee is £4,950.00, plus Admin fee. Equipment and materials are provided free of charge, however, should you wish to pursue your Learning in more depth, you may be advised to purchase one or more text books from a recommended reading list.
