Business Studies - BTEC Level 3 at Bolton St Catherine's Academy
You will study the major functions in business. Each operational area that you study is linked to a real business which is relatable and relevant. Some of the units will have a slightly different focus and be based around other practical activities. The course involves a variety of learning methods; group work, presentations, industrial visits, guest speakers from industry and interactive activities.
You will study six units – four of which are mandatory, and two have been selected due to the expertise within the Business Studies department. They are –
- The Business Environment
- Business Resources
- Introduction to Marketing
- Business Communication
- Creative Product Promotion
- Recruitment and Selection in Business
You will be expected to have five GCSEs at Grades A*-C, or a Merit in a relevant BTEC Level 2 Diploma (or equivalent), a Grade D/3 points in English Language and a minimum Grade D/3 points in Mathematics.
The course involves a variety of assessment methods; group work, presentations, observations and reports.
Studying BTEC Business Studies opens many doors and the majority of our students go on to higher education to study Business related degrees such as Economics, Law, Accounting, Marketing, Leisure and Tourism, Politics and Business itself.
Future careers include teaching, marketing, management, owning your own business, finance and accounting, banking and working in the retail sector.
There are also many potential apprenticeship opportunities available through studying BTEC Business Studies.
