AS English Language and Literature AQA Level 3 at Richmond Adult Community College

Course description

Your course provides opportunities to analyse and respond to a variety of set written texts and also to produce texts of your own. You will also analyse and compare various types of spoken language.

Course content

Your course comprises two units: Integrated Analysis and Text Production You will learn and apply the correct terminology for analysing language, and also produce imaginative pieces of your own, based on the study of set texts. Analysing Speech and its Representation You will acquire the tools and terminology for analysing and comparing a range of spoken texts, e.g. planned and spontaneous speech, and analyse one set text with particular focus on the how the author represents speech.

Entry requirements

You must have a GCSE pass In English at Grade C or above. You will need to produce evidence of your qualification.

Assessment

Two written examinations: each one hour thirty minutes in length.
