L1 PSE Award at Richmond Adult Community College

Course description

This course will give you a background knowledge and understanding of issues relating to personal, social and health education. It will encourage you to apply knowledge and understanding in making decisions about your own well being. It helps promote self-development by encouraging students’ awareness of their own strengths and areas for improvement and choices and opportunities available to you. It will also increase your awareness of spiritual, moral, ethical, social, legislative, economic, cultural, environmental, health, and safety, and European issues as appropriate. You will be asked to take part in discussions on issues raised and advised on how to express your ideas logically and diplomatically.

Course content

For the Award, four Units at Level 1 covering: Drugs Education Sex and Relationship Education Healthy Lifestyles Personal Safety For the Certificate- the above, and an additional three units at Entry Level 3: Making Informed Career Choices Applying for Jobs and Courses Emotional Wellbeing

Entry requirements

Each unit requires literacy skills appropriate to the level at which it is aimed. Where a unit requires numeracy skills, these are also appropriate to the level of the unit. For the Award- all units are level 1 For the Certificate –four units are level 1, and three units are Entry level 3.

Assessment

There are no externally-set assignments or tasks. The candidate will produce a portfolio of evidence for every unit during the course.
