Sport BTEC Level 3 Extended Subsidiary Diploma at Waltham Forest College

Course description

This BTEC Level 3 Extended Subsidiary Diploma continues on from the 90 Credit Diploma in Sport and together they are equivalent to three A 'Levels'. It is designed to equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills for university entry to pursue a career within the Sports industry. This course is ideal for those who want to pursue the academic study of sport.
You will learn about different aspects of the study of Sport, from sports injuries to fitness training and programming and the psychology of sport. We have high success rates, in line with national averages and access to excellent sports facilities.

Course content

An overall merit grade from the 90 Credit Diploma in Sport 
5 GCSEs at Grade C or above including English or Maths 
A passion for all sport and fitness
Assessment and interview

Entry requirements

You will study a range of subject within the realm of sport such as:
Sports Injuries
Leadership in Sport
Exercise for Specific Groups
Sport Psychology
Sport Development
English and/or Maths 
There will also be an opportunity for some suitable students to achieve an industry recognised qualification such as FA level 1, National Pool Life Guard or Level 2 Gym Instructor


You will be assessed internally using a range of methods such as written reports, observations, presentations and posters

Future opportunities

The BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport is equivalent to 3 A 'levels which can lead to a range of excellent degree courses at university such as PE Teaching, Sport Science or Sports Therapy.

      Trains run to Walthamstow Central from Liverpool Street station (a bus can then be taken to the College, see below). Wood Street station is approximately a 10-minute walk from the College.


      The Victoria Line ends at Walthamstow Central, which is approximately a 15-minute walk to the College. Alternatively, you can get a bus, see below.


      From Walthamstow Central:Bus 275 stops outside the College, 212 stops across the road from the College (Shernhall Street). Buses 97, 357, 34 or 215 stop at the 'Bell Corner' (junction of Hoe Street and Forest Road). From here, the College is approximately five-minute walk.

      From Blackhorse Road Tube Station: Bus 123 also stops outside the College on route between Tottenham and Ilford
