Carpentry and Joinery Diploma Level 1 at Waltham Forest College
This Carpentry City and Guilds Diploma Level 1 course is designed for those with an interest in the Construction Industry who are looking to gain specialist skills as a Carpenter.
This course will enable you to acquire skills in Carpentry whilst seeking employment as a Carpenter.
Safe working practice
Knowledge of building methods and construction technology
Produce basic woodworking joints
Prepare and use power tools
Normally 4 GCSEs at Grade G or above including English and Maths
All applicants will be required to successfully complete an interview and a short Maths and English assessment. A really keen interest in the subject and a clear commitment to the course is necessary for the student to succeed.
This course is assessed with practical modules, online unit exams and assignments. At the end of the course you will also be required to complete 2 exams in Carpentry and Functional skills.
Your job knowledge will be assessed by short question papers, which will take place throughout your programme of study. In addition to this you will be required to pass a multiple-choice external online examination.
Your Personal Tutor will prepare and support you for all assessments and online exams.
Progression to a Level 2 Diploma in Carpentry or employment. This course provides a good foundation for future career opportunities or progression to a more advanced work related qualification such as an Apprenticeship.
