Government and Politics A Level at Chelsea Academy

Course description

At AS you will study the basics of the British political system. You’ll learn about the institutions: parliament, cabinet, prime minister. You’ll also study the individuals and organisations that operate within the system: the parties, the pressure groups and others. You will sit two exams at the end of the AS course.

At A2 you will compare the US and UK systems: ‘how did the current US system evolve out of the British system of the late 18th century?’, ‘is the US President a powerless figure?’, ‘is the US Congress the same as the UK Parliament?’, ‘what role do judges play in both countries?’. You will sit two exams at the end of the A2 course.
