Accountancy Level 3 at Ashton on Mersey School and Sixth Form

Course description

Accountancy equips you with the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to assess the performance of all types of business organisations. It will enable you to effectively analyse and evaluate financial data so that you can make judgements, decisions and recommendations about how businesses can manage their financial affairs.

Course content

You will learn about accounting including double entry bookkeeping, income statements and balance sheets of sole traders and limited companies. You will gain an in-depth understanding of management accounting, budgetary controls and the impact of technology on accounting.

Entry requirements

5 Full Course GCSEs at grade A*- C including English Language and Mathematics at grade 4 or above. To study this subject alongside a BTEC Pathway a minimum GCSE grade 6 in Mathematics is required.

Assessment

Assessment is 100% examination.

Future opportunities

Studying accountancy could lead you to an apprenticeship within an accountancy practice or straight into the work force in finance. The course also offers you a foundation for further study at university and a career in accountancy via one of the professional accounting bodies.
