Course description

Choosing to study for the BTEC National in Sport is an excellent choice as the sports industry is experiencing significant growth. As the industry grows, so too does the demand for qualified and highly-skilled candidates. Britain’s sporting boom embodied by our rich sporting history and recent successes at the Olympics and other major competitions makes this an exciting and relevant subject to undertake. This course demands a high level of academic commitment and in return, you develop the transferable higher order skills that are valued by universities and employers.

The study of sport encourages the development of skills and behaviours such as teamwork, leadership, performance analysis, resilience, evaluation, analysis and synthesis.

The course is centred around the development of sports leadership skills in the role of a sports coach, sports event organisation, planning and delivery, fitness development through training and assessment and development of anatomical/biomechanical understanding.
