Mathematics A Level at Stockley Academy

Course description

An A-Level in Mathematics will support a wide variety of courses in further and higher education – Engineering, Medical Sciences, Physics, Computing, IT, Electronics, Accounting, Law and Mathematics.

Course content

The new A-Level Mathematics involves a combination of pure Maths, Statistics and Mechanics. Students will cover such topics as the transformation of graphs, differentiation, integration, sequences & series, statics, equations of motion, statistical modelling, probability and regression.

The course will be taught over 2 years with the option of taking an AS exam at the end of Year 12.

Entry requirements

Minimum 5 GCSEs A* – C/9 - 5, with at least a 6 in GCSE Maths and a 5 in English.

Assessment

100% Examination
We will consider entering students for the AS at the end of year 12 based on progress made; The A-Level is 100% exam at the end of year 13 and includes all the AS content.

Students enjoy a mixture of teacher-led & student-led sessions including card activities, problem solving sessions, exam technique sessions and ‘lecture’ style sessions. We also make use of online websites – some through a subscription and others free to use

Classes are often taught by two teachers to ensure you receive a wide range of teaching methods. We typically have 8 sessions a fortnight.
