Travel and Tourism BTEC Level 2 First Award at Stockley Academy
This course gives students an ideal stepping stone for further study or the world of work. Internal assessment involves a variety of learning methods such as in-class presentations, roles plays, brochures, leaflets and reports.
Students are introduced to the fundamentals of travel and tourism. In this course, students will explore a range of topics such as learning about the UK as a travel and tourism destination and customer service in travel and tourism. This course comprises of three coursework units and one examination, all equally split at 25% each.
Unit 1 The UK Travel & Tourism Sector – 25%
This unit introduces students to the language and terminology used in travel and tourism. It provides the underpinning knowledge required to understand how the UK travel and tourism sector operates. This is the only non-coursework unit which is an externally assessed written examination.
Unit 2 UK Travel & Tourism Destinations – 25%
This unit gives students a detailed understanding of travel and tourism destinations in the UK. Students will learn how to use different sources of travel and tourism information to plan routes and holidays to meet the needs of different visitors.
Unit 4 International Travel & Tourism Destinations – 25%
This unit enables learners to develop an understanding of travel and tourism from an international perspective.
Unit 6 The Travel and Tourism Customer Experience 25%
This unit will enable students to learn about the importance of customer service in travel and tourism and developed the skills needed to provide customers with an excellent experience in travel and tourism.
(Units 1 & 2 are mandatory units)
Minimum 4 GCSEs at Grade E or above.
This course comprises of three coursework units and one examination, all equally split at 25% each.
